I’ll Pack The Snacks!

I love blogging.  It brings me great pleasure.  I enjoy writing posts and reading others’.  I enjoy meeting the people behind the blogs.  I enjoy sharing memorable moments through blogs.  I also enjoy the little blogging perks.

When I returned home from Chicago, a package was waiting.

Mmmm….Larabars!  I can’t wait for a moment alone with that Apple Pie bar.  Apple pie has my heart. So do Larabars.  I bet it will be an amazing combo!

If that wasn’t exciting enough, the doorbell rang.  As luck would have it, the friendly UPS man stood at my doorstep with another package.

What could it be?  My family gathered round to find out.  Samples are exciting!

Wow!  Thank you, Clif!  I’m excited to taste out the new products and flavors – Clif Crunch, Luna bars, and Clif Shots.  It feels like Christmas in August over here.  I explained to the family that this is serious business.  They cannot steal my snacks.  I must protect the products for thorough review.

Product review began immediately!

I dove right in to the supply of Clif Crunch bars.  I decided to test out the Honey Oat flavor first.  It’s a classic granola bar flavor, good for setting the baseline.  The ingredients were fairly simple too:

Ingredients: Organic Rolled Oats, Organic Evaporated Cane Juice, Organic Sunflower Oil, Rice Crisp (Rice Flour, Barley Malt Extract, Evaporated Cane Juice, Salt, Calcium Carbonate), Honey, Natural Flavors, Organic Barley Flakes, Organic Rye Flakes, Oat Bran, Oat Fiber, Sea Salt (Real Salt®), Inulin (Chicory Extract).

Time to taste!

Inside the package, I found two slim bars – a reminder of the Nature Valley bars that once filled my lunchbox!  They were slightly crumbly and incredibly crunchy.  I loved the sweet hints of honey….and all things oats!  I enjoyed crunching my way through.  These bars would make a great midday pick-me-up – less dense than a typical bar, more snack-y – just my style!  It won’t be long before these bars get stashed in my car, my purse, and my gym bag.  Yum!  I can’t wait to try the other flavors – Peanut Butter, White Chocolate Macadamia, and Chocolate Chip.

My new snack pack came at the perfect time.  My appetite was just revving up from this morning’s run.

Not gonna lie…I love shopping!  It’s a good thing I love it because I’ve been shopping all day!  It did me some good.  Today, I went from this…

…to this!

That dress – $12!  I kept the bargainista in mind during this trip.  She always has the best fashion, beauty, and shopping tips.

Clearly, I didn’t start my day in a pretty dress.  I started with a PB&J sandwich thin and seven miles.  I laughed in the face of humidity.  Ha!  I can’t let it get me down on every run, so I faced it.  I took it slow to make sure I didn’t get nauseous again.  It worked.  Besides the salty sweat burning my eyes,  it was all good!

Total Distance: 7.0 miles

  • Mile 1 – 9:10/mi
  • Mile 2 – 9:09/mi
  • Mile 3 – 9:35/mi
  • Mile 4 – 9:07/mi
  • Mile 5 – 8:57/mi
  • Mile 6 – 8:58/mi
  • Mile 7 – 9:19/mi

Total Time: 1:04:15

I needed a cold snack after that jaunt.

My yogurt mess was perfect.  I added a banana and cereal to some plain Greek yogurt.  I threw some Chex into the mix this morning.  Ahh…the cereal of my youth!  It was a nice addition.

Just as I finished eating, I got a shopping invitation.  Twist my arm, why don’t ya?! I joined my aunt, Gram, and cousins for some back to school shopping.  Teachers go back to school, too.  I had to partake!  I actually did really well at scoring some deals and avoiding a spending spree.  I’m far from perfect, but I made a solid effort.

My shopping trip was powered by Lara.

I grabbed another new flavor for the road.  I didn’t rave about the chocolate chip cookie dough bar, but….I loved this one!! The peanut butter chocolate chip was right up my alley.  It had the salty flavor from the peanuts mixed with sweet morsels of chocolate.  I have a new favorite Larabar flavor.  This bar comes highly recommended.  If you see one, buy it, and try it.

We ended a long day of sale racks and fitting rooms with some lunch.

Bertucci’s was the easiest option.  It’s right in the mall and always has something for everyone.  Plus, I am sort of obsessed with their hot rolls and dipping oil.

I started with a doughy roll before ordering the soup and salad combo for lunch.

Crisp and fresh.

Warm and hearty.

It was just the lunch I needed after a tiring spree – lots of fun, though!

As promised, I shall return with a review of Born To Run. I’m excited to share my thoughts!

Are you a shopper?  What’s your favorite thing to shop for? Since I love shopping, most trips are fun.  I especially love shopping for clothes…and FOOD!
