It’s been pretty rainy in RI today. Things seem to be clearing up now, but there were some angry clouds in our area this afternoon. My mom and I planned a trip to the Farmer’s Market – it’s indoors! That was our first stop of the day.
The Farmer’s Market was really bare today. I’m used to seeing it hopping with people and colorful piles of fresh produce. The season has changed and so have the crops, so my typical favorites weren’t in abundance. The Farmer’s Market had tons of greens, lettuces, and fresh herbs. I decided against purchasing them, but I did pick up a great bunch of fresh asparagus and some delicious wheatberry salad - I had a sample and couldn’t resist!
We left the market and joined the rest of the state at Providence Place. Rain + Mother’s Day = BUSY MALL! I never imagined it would be so packed. Rather than fight the crowds, we made our way to one of our favorite spots, The Nordstrom Cafe. When we do lunch together, my mom and I often share dishes. Today we started by splitting the house salad.
I typically get the balsamic vinaigrette, but I drizzled the champagne variety on my salad. The flavor wasn’t bad, but it was a little too oily. Lesson learned – balsamic it is! Just as we finished our salads, a margherita pizza arrived.
It’s a personal pizza, but it’s the perfect size for sharing at lunch.
I started with two small slices and went back for a third…that’s what long runs in the rain will do to ya! I’m such a pizza junkie and margherita pizzas are definitely my guilty pleasure. Tomatoes and basil, a match made in heaven!
The sun is breaking through the clouds, but I’m in the mood for a movie…or a Housewives marathon!
Hope you’re having a super Saturday!
