Bloggers LIVE!

Remember the classic Seinfeld episode when George’s world’s collide.  The world’s collide theory made George very upset.  Thankfully, I am not George Costanza.  When my world’s collide, it makes me very happy!

There’s nothing better than a night out, enjoying so many of favorite things – great food, great company, great conversation.  Last night was just that – my first blogger meet up! I’m not going to lie, I was charged up all day.  I couldn’t wait for dinner!

I met four fabulous bloggers – Melissa, Lindsay, Lauren, and Bekah – at Don Jose Tequilas for dinner.

Did someone say sangria? Oh yes!  Sangria was included.

We all opted to dine on the Restaurant Week special – $29.95 for a glass of wine/beer/sangria/margarita, one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert per person,  The menu was a blogger’s playground!  We were so busy chatting and laughing that it was tough to decide, so we got lots of different things to try.

My favorite appetizers:

Chips, chips, and more chips!  Actually, it was the salsa and guacamole that stole the show.  The salsa was perfectly smooth, smoky, and spicy.  I loved it!  Since I’m a granny that usually eats super early, I definitely enjoyed some munching before our meals arrived.  Hungry girl!

I’m glad I had a good appetite, though.  The menu had so many delicious choices!  Eventually, I decided on pescado al tomatillo – broiled tilapia fillet; served in a roasted garlic, white wine, and tomatillo sauce w/ rice and beans.

No words!  When your entree requires two plates, you know you’re in for it.  This was definitely the best dish I have ever ordered at a Mexican restaurant.  Don Jose knows how to do tilapia.  The fish was perfectly cooked, creating an amazing base for the zing of the wine and tomatillo sauce.  I added a few bites of rice to the sauce…divine!  I love going out and getting a meal that I far beyond the reaches of my culinary skills.  It makes the whole experience so worth it!  I could only eat about half of this amazing dinner, but I had it boxed because I could not let it go to waste…the box remains in the booth where I left it…boo!

Time for some sweet stuff!  As I said, the special included dessert, which is my favorite part of any meal.  I saved room, don’t worry!

There were so many delicious choices!  I went with the tres leches. Muy bueno! The cake was moist, but spongy.  It was creamy from the sweet milks, with a subtle drizzle of chocolate.

I hated it.  Ha!  Seriously, I could not leave a single bite of this dessert behind.  It was that good!  Actually, everyone swooned over their desserts.  I love eating with people who appreciate fine food as much as I do!

The night was a total success!  It’s hard to believe that I was able to meet so many strong, smart, and inspiring women through my little blog.  I strongly recommend that you check our their blogs….they are rock stars!  It made me appreciate our little corner of the blogosphere.  We shared our passions, told stories, asked questions, and laughed.  Being with these ladies was just so easy and fun.  I hope to meet again!

I am kicking myself for not getting a ticket to HLS! If anyone is looking to get rid of theirs, let me know ;)   I am so wishing I could be there to meet more of my favorite bloggers!
