Last night was filled with excitement. It started with dinner.
Lauren and I made plans to meet for dinner at Garden Grille in Pawtucket, RI. When she suggested the location, I was SO happy! Garden Grille is one of the few vegetarian restaurants in our area and it’s always gotten rave reviews. I wanted to eat there for quite awhile and I finally had the perfect opportunity.
Garden Grille is small and bright. The atmosphere is super friendly and comfortable. Lauren and I snagged a booth and took our time reviewing the menu. So many great options! I decided on a Garden Grille favorite – the roasted butternut squash quesadilla.
Whoa baby! It was seriously good. The roasted butternut squash was combined with the ultimate trifecta – black beans, avocado, and jack cheese. It had the most amazing flavors. I devoured three wedges and can’t wait to eat the fourth for lunch today.
Funny Story: Garden Grille has an incredible list of vegan desserts. I knew I wanted to try one. When the time came, Lauren and I decided on the same dessert: chocolate-peanut butter coconut ice cream served with a warm chocolate chip cookie. We chatted while waiting for our sweet treats. The waiter came to our table with ONE dessert! Shocking! Share a dessert?! Haha. Of course sharing dessert was just fine, but it got us so flustered that the cameras never came out. We laughed and split the order. It was just right. There was plenty of deliciousness to go around. Crisis averted!

Lauren is pretty awesome, so I would go out to dinner with her anytime; however, this dinner had a greater purpose. We met to solidify our fall race plans. I am joining Lauren for another adventure!

In three weeks, I will run the Reach the Beach Relay in New Hampshire. With my recent mileage increases, I feel ready for this challenge. It also fulfills my adventurous streak. This is an experience I have had on my to-do list, so when Lauren asked me to join a team with her, I immediately said YES! I know I am in for some surprises…that’s part of the fun!
This race is all about fun. It’s running in a whole new way. I will post more about the race in the coming weeks and can’t wait to share the experience with you.
Have you ever participated in an adventure race or relay?
Tell me about your favorite race/event.

You should have told tham you were a runner and I garuntee they would bring you your own dessert
I have never been in a relay, although I would like to!
My last race was a 1/2 marathon on the 4th of July. It rained the whole time, the first 3 aid stations RAN OUT OF WATER and it was basically all up hill. It was horrible, but it felt great to finish!
So pumped to hear about your travels after hearing Lauren talk about the relay at dinner that night. And next time you go that that restaurant, can I please come?!?!? It looks SO GOOD.
Your quesadilla looks amazing, and it is definitely something that could be replicated at home.
I’m so glad you are running that relay! A friend asked me to join her team, but I thought it might be a little much for me with my half marathon training right now. Can’t wait to hear all about it!
Cannot wait to hear how the race goes, that’s amazing girl!
I am doing my first relay at the end of this month, looking forward to representing a team.
Haha, I’m right there with you. Sharing a dessert is nonsense!
You and Lauren are going to have so much fun doing the relay! I’m jealous- wish I could join you. One day
Yay! I’m so glad you posted about this — I’ve been wanting to talk about it but I wanted to wait until you made your official announcement
I’m getting more excited every day!!
And I like ya and all, but next time we go to Garden Grille, we’re getting our own desserts.
And Lindsay should definitely come!
A adventure race sounds like a lot of fun! I’ve never tried one but I am always looking for new fitness inspired ways to try something new.
That quesadilla sounds ridiculous! So many flavors of awesomeness! Exciting news about the relay:)
That restaurant looks amazing! I wish we had more vegan/vegetarian options around where I live. That quesadilla would be devoured weekly by yours truly
Good luck with your race!
I ran a relay a few years back and I loved it!
I wish we were doing it again this year, but I am signed up for a half at the same time!
But we had a great time getting together and all of us having different miles to run and cheering each other on! It was a lot of fun!
I’ve done a relay once, it’s fun. I bet it’ll be great doing it at the beach!
