Gloss & Glamour

Yesterday I went to Gloss & Glamour for a facial and skin care consultation.  It’s a new salon in North Providence and it is fabulous!  The decor is fun and girly with lots of pink, black, and white and there’s plenty of natural light streaming in from the big windows.  I made my appointment with Kristen, the salon’s owner.  She is a skin care therapist and offers a wide variety a skin care, waxing, and eyelash treatments – all at a competitive price. The salon also has a team of stylists for any of your hair care needs.

I went to Kristen to discuss my skin issues.  She started the appointment with my consultation.  We went over the list of products I was using and discussed my problem areas.  Then it was time to relax!  I laid back and let Kristen do what she does best.  My service included a full facial, upper body massage, and hand massage.  I was totally at ease the entire time.

Along the way, Kristen told me to STOP with the St. Ives scrub – much too harsh.  She also told me that I needed a foaming cleanser to really get the trapped oils out of my pores – ditch the Burt’s Bees deep cleansing cream.  I was surprised to hear that my skin was dry.  Although moisturizing isn’t the thing I do best, I always felt more oily than dry – not the case!  I was really excited to hear what she had to say and gain a better understanding of my skin.

After 1.5 hours of pure bliss, we wrapped up my appointment with a discussion of Dermalogica products.  Coincidentally, these were the same products Melissa recommended when I first posted about my complexion.  With my skin feeling amazing, I had to give these products a try.

I purchased a package of skin purifying wipes and the Clean Start Starter Kit.  The wipes will be perfect for a quick cleanse after a tough workout or a long day at school and the kit includes samples of everything I will need to get my glow back:

  • foaming cleanser
  • matte moisturizer with SPF 15
  • “banish the breakouts” serum
  • toning/hydrating mist
  • exfoliator

I am excited to try everything!  My skin feels great right now.  I opted for a simple swipe of mascara this morning, so I can let me skin breathe in all its natural glory!  I’m always concealing and covering something, but it just feels too clean to mess with right now :) .

After a couple weeks of use, I will definitely give you a more comprehensive review of the products I am using.

What’s your favorite way to pamper yourself? I loved my facial and pedicures are a must, but I’ve never had a full-body massage and I’m dying for one!

Happy Friday!

I love a good pedicure but haven’t had one in months. Let me know what you think of the dermatologica products after using it for a few weeks. I live by Clinique but am always looking for something new. Have you ever had a microderm before? Those are heavenly and after your skin just glows!
